2025 Champion to Holy Hill Walking Pilgrimages

13 days with 6 overnights in Farm Section and 6 overnights in Forest Section  

FARM SECTION 

 

Day 1 - Sunday   9.6 Miles  

National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion → The Wisconsin Way Albergue, Luxemburg, WI.  Shrine Mass times 8:30 am and 11:00 am.  Lunch available at cafe (not included). Walk in the afternoon.

  

Day 2 - Monday   13 Miles 

The Wisconsin Way Albergue → Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery via St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Stangelville. Afternoon visit at the historic church then lunch at nearby winery. Shuttle to Saint Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church parish, Tisch Mills. Overnight tent camp with access to secured indoor area with 3 restrooms plus prayer trails with Rosary path, Stations of the Cross & St. Francis of Assisi shrine.

 

Day 3 - Tuesday   14 Miles  

St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church, Tisch Mills → Albergue (house) downtown Denmark, short walk to All Saints Catholic Church, restaurants, coffee shop and bakery. Along the way you can stop for prayer at the Carmelite Monastery and Curran Spiritual Center. Catholic Mass on Wednesdays at 8:15 am. 

Day 4 - Wednesday   12 miles  

Albergue in Denmark → Lumen Christi Farm, Reedsville, WI via Devil's River State Trail. Accommodations include climate-controlled yurt, sheep wagon sites and indoor space at a unique nonprofit Catholic retreat center that operates a working sheep and goat farm.  Amenities include shower, two toilets, dining/tv areas, kitchen, tour of on-site chapels. 

Day 5 - Thursday   9 miles  

Lumen Christi Farm, Reedsville WI → St Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills.  This short walking day stop is between two destination types of accommodations. From Clark’s Mills shuttled to Holiday Inn Manitowoc for a room (double occupancy) and dinner (enjoy the Divine Mercy chapel & indoor pool). Shuttle back to Clarks Mills on Friday morning after an optional early morning Mass and breakfast. 

Day 6 - Friday   8 miles 

St Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills → Holy Resurrection Monastery, Eastern Rite Catholic monks, St. Nazianz.  Afternoon in and around monastery with a short trail walk to the nearby Loreto Shrine.    Guest house with room (some private, some shared), usually an evening prayer service before dinner. FOREST SECTION 

 

Day 7 - Saturday   11.5 Miles 

Holy Resurrection Monastery, St. Nazianz → Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 423 Fremont St, Kiel, via Lax Chapel and Mary Queen of Hearts Chapel.  Shuttle ride from Kiel to the Holiday Inn Manitowoc for overnight with a room (double occupancy) and dinner. Shuttle ride back to Kiel on Sunday morning.

 

Day 8 - Sunday   9 Miles 

Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel  →  Osthoff Avenue House in Elkhart Lake.  Shuttle from the hotel to optional Mass, then shuttle back to downtown Kiel for a short walking day to Elkhart Lake, where you will be staying overnight in a beautiful large house near the lake and resort area (sleeps up to 9 guests).

  

Day 9 - Monday   9 to 11 Miles 

Osthoff Ave. House, Elkhart Lake → N. Kettle Moraine Greenbush Group Camp.  From here you enter the Kettle Moraine Forest and can walk challenging via Ice Age Trail segments and/or scenic roadways. 11 miles via Ice Age Trail or 9 miles by scenic roads.  Tent camp with large sites, restrooms and firepits.

 

Day 10 - Tuesday   15 Miles 

Greenbush Group Camp  →  Kettle Moraine Mauthe Lake Campground, Kewaskum via the Ice Age Trail or roads. Try not to miss St. Mathias Chapel.  Tents, nice woodsy sites, indoor shower and restrooms.

 

Day 11 - Wednesday   15 Miles 

Mauthe Lake Campground  →  Albergue in West Bend, Great trail walking to the 4 Bedroom/ 2 Bath house in a quiet woodsy area not far from the Ice Age Trail segment and Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive.

 

Day 12 - Thursday   11 Miles 

Albergue in West Bend → Kettle Moraine SF - Pike Lake Unit campground, Hartford. Via Ice Age Trail and scenic roads.  Tent camping on last overnight - woodsy sites with toilets, showers and restrooms.

 

Day 13 - Friday   7.6 Miles 

Pike Lake Unit Campground  →  Holy Hill Basilica via IAT and scenic roads (the tour ends at Holy hill).  Mass at 11 am. Lunch available at Cafe (not included). Make your own arrangements home. Those who wish to stay overnight can contact the guesthouse for room availability (requires separate reservation).
