FARM SECTION
Day 1 - Sunday 9.6 Miles
National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion → Wisconsin Way Albergue, Luxemburg, WI. The shrine opens at 7:00 am. Mass times: 9:30 am (April - Oct) and 11:00 am (all year). Cafe and bookstore open after Mass. Supper & Monday morning breakfast at the albergue are included.
Day 2 - Monday 13 Miles
The Wisconsin Way Albergue → Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery via Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, Stangelville. Afternoon visit at the historic church (possibly a Mass) and then lunch* at a nearby winery. You are shuttled back to the WI Way Albergue. Supper & breakfast included.
Day 3 - Tuesday 11.4 Miles
Saint Lawrence Catholic Church, Stangelville → downtown Denmark. Morning shuttle 7:00 am to Saint Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church, Tisch Mills, Mass at 8:00 am. Enjoy a guided walking tour of wooded trails (prayer paths) with Stations of the Cross and St. Francis of Assisi shrine. Then be shuttled back to St. Lawrence Church for drop-off, then you walk about 11.4 miles into downtown Denmark. Along the way stop at the Curran Spiritual Center and Carmelite Monastery. Overnight accommodation: 4 bedroom residence / albergue a short walking distance from All Saints Catholic Church (Mass Wed. 8:15 am) and Devil’s River Trailhead. Food for supper & breakfast included.
Day 4 - Wednesday 12 miles
Private Albergue in Denmark → Lumen Christi Farm, Reedsville, WI via Devil's River State Trail. https://lumenchristifarm.org/ Accommodations include climate controlled yurt, sheep wagon and RV/Camper(s) with indoor gathering spaces at a new nonprofit Catholic retreat center operating a working sheep and goat farm. Amenities include shower, toilets, dining area, kitchen, chapels and walking trails. Food & beverages for supper & breakfast the following morning included.
Day 5 - Thursday 9 miles*
Lumen Christi Farm, Reedsville → St Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Walk rural roads to a historic marker in front of St. Mary’s church in Clarks Mills, at the exact spot where an order known as the Fransican Sisters of Christian Charity was founded. From there you’re shuttled to the order’s mothership, Holy Family Convent (👉 https://fscc-calledtobe.org/) for a private tour, then be shuttled into Manitowoc for overnight accommodations at the Holiday Inn (double occupancy included with $50 upcharge for a single occupancy private room). Dinner is available at the onsite bar/restaurant or offsite establishments within walking distance (not included in the tour price); the onsite breakfast is included. Relax and enjoy a heated pool/spa, amenities and the Divine Mercy chapel at the Holiday Inn.
Day 6 - Friday 8 miles*
St Mary's Catholic Church - Clarks Mills → Holy Resurrection Monastery, Eastern Rite Catholic monks, St. Nazianz 👉www.hrmonline.org. After morning Mass in Manitowoc, you are shuttled back to Clark’s MIll to continue walking to St. Nazianz. After arrival at the monastery, enjoy a guided historic walking tour including Loretto Chapel and Father Oschwald’s tomb. Lodging and meals (dinner and breakfast) and the optional guided tour, weather permitting, are all included.
* Lumen Christi Farm and H.R. Monastery are retreat destination hotspots; hence the slower pace here.
FOREST SECTION
Day 7 - Saturday 11.5 Miles
Holy Resurrection Monastery, St. Nazianz, WI → downtown Kiel, WI. Walk mostly rural roads via Lax Chapel; suggested stops at Mary Queen of Hearts Chapel (+ 2.2 miles) and Henning’s Cheese store (+ 1.4 miles). We suggest lunch and an afternoon stroll in downtown Kiel. From there you are shuttled to the Holiday Inn Manitowoc for the same accommodations as Day 5.
Day 8 - Sunday 7+ Miles
Downtown Kiel → downtown Elkhart Lake. Shuttle available for a morning Mass in Manitowoc, then a late morning shuttle back to Kiel where you continue walking rural roads into Elkhart Lake, where we suggest lunch at “Off the Rails” and stroll in the charming downtown. From there you will be shuttled back to the Holiday Inn Manitowoc (same accommodations as Day 5).
Day 9 - Monday 9 to 11 Miles
Elkhart Lake → Kettle Moraine State Forest - Greenbush Group Camp. 11 miles via Ice Age Trail or 9 miles by scenic road. Accommodation options are either: Tent Camping (included in your base price) or Hotel (upgrade charges apply). Tent camping requires a minimum of 4; otherwise all pilgrims in a group are shuttled and upgraded* to a room at the Holiday Inn Manitowoc. *Hotel upgrade charge is $50 per pilgrim for double occupancy or $100 per pilgrim for a private single occupant room. Dinner is available (not included) at the onsite bar/restaurant or offsite establishments within walking distance. Onsite breakfast is included. Greenbush camp is located on the Ice Age Trail (you can stay right in the forest) on a large wooded remote site with sheltered pit toilet restrooms. We provide a glamping style set-up that includes spacious new tents, padded cot, clean sleeping bag, clean towel, electric charging station, lanterns, firewood, food for supper and coffee with a light breakfast. AND In the event of bad weather, pilgrims can elect that day to upgrade from Tent Camping to Hotel (charges/terms apply); so we can shuttle you out and bring you back to Greenbush the next morning where you can continue walking through the forest via the Ice Age Trail or scenic roads.
Day 10 - Tuesday 15 Miles
Greenbush Group Camp → Kettle Moraine Mauthe Lake Campground, via the Ice Age Trail. Tent camping at woodsy sites, indoor shower w/toilet facilities. Same accommodation options as previous day; either Tent Camping (included as above) or Hotel (upgrade charges do apply). Mauthe Lake Campground is located directly on the Ice Age Trail. You can stay in the forest and glamp overnight.
Day 11 - Wednesday 15 Miles
Mauthe Lake Campground → Albergue/private residence, West Bend. Continue hiking south on the Ice Age Trail (about 2 miles to St. Matthias Chapel) and along rural roads into Westbend. Our albergue is a 4 Bedroom / 2 Bath cabinesque home in a woodsy setting not far but uphill from trail connected scenic roads. Food for supper and breakfast are included.
Day 12 - Thursday 11 Miles
Albergue in West Bend → Kettle Moraine State Forest - Pike Lake Unit campground, Hartford. Via Ice Age Trail and scenic roads. Pike Lake is located directly on the Ice Age Trail, if you want to glamp overnight in the forest. Woodsy sites w/toilets and showers. Same accommodation options as Day 9: either Tent Camping (included as above) or Hotel nearby (upgrade charges do apply).
Day 13 - Friday 7.6 Miles
Pike Lake Unit Campground → Holy Hill Basilica, Hubertus (tour ends here). Walk via Ice Age Trail and connecting roads (follow signage to “Stations” on the approach to Holy Hill). Mass is at 11 am. Lunch available at Cafe (not included). Plan arrangements to get home and contact Brian to inquire about transportation/shuttle options. Those who wish to stay overnight can contact the Holy Hill guesthouse regarding room availability - requires separate reservation - not included in tour.
